Streetsville – Mississauga Neighbourhoods

Where’s Streetsville Located?

Streetsville is located in north-central Mississauga east of Meadowvale, west of East Credit, south of Meadowvale Village (separated by the 401) and north of Central Erin Mills.

The Neighbourhood of Streetsvill

Dubbed “The Village in the City”, Streetsville is defined by its “Main Street” downtown strip and older, eclectic mix of housing. It’s essentially the Port Credit of the North with a bit tighter sense of community. The neighbourhood is vibrant and hosts numerous events throughout the year including the Santa Claus Parade in the winter and Bread and Honey Festival in the summer. Victoria Park is tucked nicely behind Main Street and there is also a great trail and park for kids families to explore. Streetsville has something for everyone for all ages and walks of life.

When trying to decide if Streetsville is right for you think of it as the Yin to Central Erin Mills’ Yang. Read up on Central Erin Mills and if it isn’t quite for you, you’re probably a Streetsvillian at heart. In my opinion, Streetsville is the most desirable neighbourhood in the north of Mississauga. Its residents are certainly more mature, but we’re beginning to see a slight shift in younger families as new-age buyers are beginning to take more chances on older, bungalow-style homes with more generous lot sizes.

Streetsville Real Estate

There are lots of charming Streetsville real estate options. 1 1/2 and 2 storeys, backsplits, sidesplits, bungalows and raised bungalows make Streetsville far from a cookie-cutter development. For those who want to add their flair, take on an older home (heck – knock it down and build a custom one like many others have done!) and upgrade it or walk into one fully upgraded.

Check out the street view below for some of the more common homes in Streetsville. This isn’t an entire representation of the neighbourhood though. For example, there are some small pockets of towns and semis near the GO station for the budget-conscious homeowner, but be prepared to move fast as when they do become available, they move quickly. For a “long-term” move be prepared to have at least $550K for a starter home in Streetsville.

Looking at condos as an option? Streetsville is now home to Ville Condos which is built in an incredible location. You can contact me directly for more info on prices/floorplans

Turnover in Streetsville is very low as those who move into the area never want to leave. That has left pockets of older families and empty nesters around the area. However, there have been some new homes built in the past 15 years and many young professionals and young families have saved up to make the move into the semi-affordable homes in Streetsville.

Streetsville Schools

Streetsville boasts the #2 elementary school in the city – Vista Heights! This is a school that every parent is aiming to send their child to. It’s a fantastic French-Immersion based school that leads to a good middle school (Dolphin Sr.) and high school (Streetsville SS).

Public Elementary Schools include:

Commuting & Retail in Streetsville

There is a GO station right in the heart of Streetsville that runs on the Milton line along with other Mississauga neighbourhoods like Lisgar and Meadowvale. For downtown commuters, this will have you downtown in about 45-50 minutes. For drivers, the 401 is your closest highway about 5 minutes away from the heart of Streetsville. For those on the edge of Streetsville, it’s about a 5-7 minute drive to the 403.

Streetsville is home to one of Mississauga’s major GO station stops on the Milton line. The commute to Union from Streetsville is about 45-50 minutes.

In terms of retail, Streetsville is one of only a couple of neighbourhoods that has a downtown strip of shops, bars, and restaurants. You’ll also enjoy the annual parades (Canada Day, Bread & Honey) and the great Vic Park just a few minutes away! You can check out the street view below to see the main downtown area (head west) or have a drive through it yourself (it starts at Britannia/Queen)!

Looking to have a quick pint? Check out Cuchulainn’s Irish Pub, Graydon’s or The Franklin House on Main. For something a bit more upscale try Saucy’s or Mondello Ristorante. In the mood for fast food? Try out the famous Osmow’s for shawarma or Burrito Boys for the best burrito in town.
