1. Bishop P.F. Reding
Neighbourhoods: Clarke, Beaty, Old Milton, Dorset Park, Timberlea, Dempsey
Score: 7.5/10

Located in the heart of Dempsey in northeast Milton, Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School is once again the #1-ranked Catholic High School in Milton.
Bishop Reding prides itself on its Speciality Academic Programs as it boasts over 1000 students who are currently enrolled in them including ones in:
- Specialist High Skills Major SHSM Program
- Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
- Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM)
The school also has an Advanced Placement program that comes highly recommended by past graduates. It offers 14 different courses which is much more than any other school in Halton.
The AP course subjects that Bishop Reding offers includes:
- English
- French
- Computer Studies
- Geography
- History
- Mathematics
- Science
- Art & Design
Bishop Reding’s Specialist High Skill Major (SHSM) programs include:
- Information & Communications Technology
- Construction
- Business
- Transportation
Bishop Reding is also an AP Capstone Diploma School. This allows students in these courses to participate in research training at the University of Toronto.
Finally, the school also puts a big emphasis on helping students target post-secondary scholarships. They recently had graduates obtain over $600,000 in post-secondary scholarships.

As for the communities in its catchment boundary, it includes most of the original “New Milton” neighbourhoods that were originally developed starting in the early 2000s. It’s also the high school for the wonderful “Old Milton” which includes the town’s original homes, downtown core and 2nd phase of development in the 70s and 80s.
In this boundary you’re closest to Downtown Milton, the GO station, the 401 and most of the city’s major amenities, so this is a great place to raise a family!

2. St. Kateri Tekakwitha
Neighbourhoods: Coates, Beaty, Cobban, Bowes
Score: 6.7

After a long wait, St. Kateri Tekakwitha finally opened its permanent location in September 2024.
Located at the neighbourhood borders of Bowes and Beaty, St. Kateri set up shop right next door to Craig Kielburger Secondary School in a gorgeous, new building. With bright classrooms that are equipped with the latest technology, the school also includes a modern library, computer and science labs and a huge gymnasium.
On the academics front, St. Kateri also offers French Immersion beginning in Grade 9. This year they retain their place at #2 in the rankings based on another huge math score!
If this keeps up, expect a new top high school in next year’s rankings…
The hope is with a more permanent home, the students and staff can cultivate not only more positive scores at all levels, but foster a great community for years to come.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha has four Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs available:
- Arts and Culture
- Business
- ICT – Information and Communication Technology
- Sports
The school also offers The Advanced Placement (AP) Program which teaches university-level content to high school students.
AP-Prep courses offered at St. Kateri CSS include:
- English
- French
- Computer Engineering
- Geography
- Art
- History
- Mathematics
- Science
Finally, St. Kateri has also been selected as a candidate for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. This means that while they wait authorization to offer the diploma in Grades 11 & 12, the Pre-IB program is offered for Grade 9 students.
As for the neighbourhoods, St. Kateri brings in students from southeast Milton including Coates, Beaty, Cobban and Bowes. These include some of the newest homes in Milton, so if you’re looking for brand new homes or ones very recently built, then you’ll want to aim for this boundary.

3. St. Francis Xavier
Neighbourhoods: Willmott, Ford, Scott, Harrison, Walker
Score: 6.0

Opened in 2013, St. Francis Xavier was Milton’s 2nd Catholic high school. While St. Kateri (see below) is the new kid on the block, Xavier is also home to a state-of-the-art building that includes a seasonal dome that allows students to use the sports field during the winter months.
Xavier has ~2280 students while offering 191 courses and over 50 clubs and sports teams. On the academic front, scores were similar to last year, landing them just at the provincial average.
With very solid feeder schools, scores should improve in the coming years as stability around EQAO testing improves as well.
St. Francis Xavier’s Specialist High Skill Major (SHSM) programs include:
- Business
- Fitness and Sports Leadership
- Information & Communications Technology
- First Responders Services
Beyond the SHSM programs, the school also offers the following exciting programs:
- S.T.E.A.M. Program
- High Performance Regional Sports Program
- Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
St. Francis Xavier is the catchment school for the neighbourhoods of Ford, Willmott, Scott, Harrison and Walker. These neighbourhoods are located in southwest and west Milton.
These are great neighbourhoods to call home with tons of amenities nearby including the 7.2 hectare Milton Community Park and Milton District Hospital.
