I’ve written about the most flood-prone areas of Mississauga and if the city as a whole had a flooding issue. What we’ve come to learn is that as Mississauga is getting older, stormwater drainage has become a significant issue and there were infrastructure issues that needed to be dealt with.
The City of Mississauga recognized the problem areas and began to improve the stormwater drainage infrastructure. However, to help finance the project, the city passed a charge to help fund all of the work back in 2016.
Mississauga’s stormwater charge now appears on your Region of Peel water bill.

The average amount added to a detached residential home’s yearly water bill was estimated to be about $100, but there is an estimator tool to find your estimated contribution.
