Mississauga’s New Stormwater Charge
A little while ago I wrote about the most flood-prone areas of Mississauga and if the city as a whole had a flooding issue. What we’ve come to learn is that as Mississauga is getting older, stormwater drainage has become a significant issue and there were infrastructure issues that needed to be dealt with.
The City of Mississauga recognized the problem areas and have started to improve the stormwater drainage infrastructure. However, to help finance the project, the city has passed a charge to help fund all of the work.
Mississauga’s new stormwater charge will appear on your Region of Peel water bill beginning in 2016 if you own a home in the city.
Check out the video below for details on the new charge.
How Much Will I Pay?
The average amount added to a detached residential home’s yearly water bill will be about $100, but use the estimator tool to find your estimated contribution.
And check out their website to find out all about the new charge.
