Lisgar – Mississauga Neighbourhoods
Where’s Lisgar Located?
Lisgar is located in northwest Mississauga bordered by Churchill Meadows to the south and Meadowvale to the east. It is the furthest north and west neighbourhood in Mississauga and runs parallel with Highway 407. To the west of Highway 407 would lie Town of Milton.
The Neighbourhood of Lisgar
Lisgar, tucked away in the very Northwest corner of Mississauga, has seen a bit of a revitalization in recent years as young families are flocking to the neighbourhood. With its ideal mix of affordability, distance to public transportation, and overall quiet, picturesque streets, Lisgar has seen a huge surge in demand and home prices have reflected that in the past year.
Lisgar is a wholesome family neighbourhood with all the amenities you need. With lots of parks (including the fantastic Osprey Marsh) and quality schools, this is the ultimate first-time buyer pocket for the growing family.
Simply put, Lisgar is one of the two most affordable neighbourhoods for a family looking for their first home or “move up” home; and people are really starting to catch on to that fact.
Prices have jumped in Lisgar in the past year, however it still boasts some of the most affordable towns, semis, and detached homes in Mississauga. If affordability is your #1 factor, Lisgar real estate should be at the very top of your list.
Homes in Lisgar are mostly under 20 years old and are what you would expect of a 90s built neighbourhood: 2-storey, 3 beds, 3 baths and the type of layouts and features the modern buying has come to expect.
Most of the new entrants are first-time home buyers looking to start a family in Mississauga. The rest are those that bought when the homes first built about 15-20 years ago. They’ve raised their families and are comfortable with the tranquility of the neighbourhood while enjoying its growth.
Lisgar Schools
Lisgar is right at the Mississauga average for school zones – and that’s a good thing! Leading the way would be Trelawny PS, which is ranked #25 in our Top 25 Schools in Mississauga. At the middle school level, Lisgar Middle School isn’t my #1 choice in the city, but it’s still a perfectly good school to send your children.
Finally, at the high school level, children would go to the ever-improving Meadowvale SS. Homeowners here can rest assured that their children are receiving quality education in the Lisgar neighbourhood.
Public Elementary Schools include:
- Trelawny PS
- Osprey Woods PS
- Kindree PS

Commuting & Retail in Lisgar
Lisgar is home to one of Mississauga’s major GO stations on the Milton line. While the trains don’t run as frequently as the Lakeshore line in the south of Mississauga, Lisgar station runs trains to Union during peak rush hour times. You can be downtown in 50 minutes and trains run from 630-815am and then 4-7pm on the way back.
Where Lisgar suffers in terms of its location is that its isolated from the rest of the city. That is, unless you’re comfortable using (and paying for) the 407, which borders all of Lisgar. If so, you can get anywhere and fast!
