Parks, Rec & Trails
The lifestyle in West Oak Trails is all about enjoying the outdoors. The neighbourhood is surrounded by green spaces, with paved trails winding through the area. It’s perfect for young families, those with dogs, or retirees looking to stay active.

There are several community parks throughout West Oak Trails but the standout parks are Sixteen Hollow and Pine Glen Park.
Sixteen Hollow Park is a big hit with families thanks to its playground and splash pad. Pine Glen Park also has a playground and splash pad and can be found right beside the Pine Glen Soccer Centre – home to the Oakville Soccer Club.
Oakville Soccer Club
This is the local Oakville youth soccer club. If your son or daughter want to play soccer in Oakville, this would be the place to begin.
The Pine Glen Soccer Centre is the indoor facility that hosts both youth and adult leagues through the spring, fall and winter. As a former indoor champion at Pine Glen, I can personally attest that this is a well-run facility and league. Ok, that’s all for the humblebrag :)
Behind the indoor facility are also four outdoor fields that are used through the spring and summer months for both youth and adult leagues.
For more information, visit the OSC’s page on the Pine Glen Soccer Centre.
For more sports, this is also a good spot for golfers as you’re close to both the Glen Abbey Golf Course and Oakville Executive Golf Course.
Finally, make sure to check out the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex located just across the road in North Oakville. This is an amazing facility that’s recently undergone a huge expansion.
I have more details on it in the “Things to do in North Oakville” section. This is probably the amenity you will end up using the most that is close by!
Retail & Other Amenities
There are corner plazas at almost every main intersection giving you lots of options for everyday retail. You’re also less than a 10-minute drive to the large retail centre at Dundas/Trafalgar. You can check out more info on that on my neighbourhood page on River Oaks.
Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital
Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) is located on Dundas just north of West Oaks Trail. The hospital opened in 2015, replacing the original facility on Reynolds Street.
OTMH offers a wide range of services, including 24/7 emergency care, maternal newborn and pediatrics, surgery, intensive care, diagnostic imaging, mental health, rehabilitation, and geriatrics. With 457 inpatient beds, the hospital serves over 15,000 inpatients and handles more than 240,000 outpatient visits annually. The emergency department is particularly busy, seeing over 70,000 visits each year.
In addition to its general care services, OTMH runs several regional programs such as renal dialysis, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, eating disorders support, and cancer clinics. The hospital is affiliated with McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, contributing to medical education and research.
