College Park Overview

College Park is located in the heart of central Oakville, between 16 Mile Creek, Trafalgar Road, Upper Middle Road and the QEW. It’s bordered by the neighbouring communities of Glen Abbey to the west, River Oaks to the north and Falgarwood to the east.

College Park is a great choice if you’re looking for a neighbourhood where you can settle down and feel at home. People here like to take advantage of the green spaces, whether it’s walking the trails, letting their kids loose at the park, or just enjoying the outdoors. It’s one of those places where you can actually get to know your neighbours.

Plus, commuting from here is a breeze. The central location makes it easy to get anywhere you need to go, whether you’re commuting for work or just running errands. The QEW and Hwy 403 are just minutes away, so whether you’re headed to Toronto or Hamilton, it’s straightforward. Public transit is solid too, with buses running through the area and the Oakville GO Train station nearby.

College Park is also home to the Sheridan College Trafalgar campus that’s famous for its animation and film programs!

College Park real estate

Real Estate

College Park is an older, well-established neighbourhood, with homes built from the 50s through until around the early 80s.

There are a few distinct pockets, but they all share similar traits like mature trees and quiet and wide streets. It’s got that classic old school, suburban feel—safe, calm, and welcoming.

You will mostly find detached homes in College Park, but there are semi, condo townhomes and apartment options as well.

Let’s check out a few different pockets so you can get a better feel for the neighbourhood.

Sheridan College Trafalgar Campus

This is a pretty big campus and with it come lots of housing options. North of the campus is where you’ll find 80s built detached homes. Head south and you’ll find condo townhomes lining McCraney Street, and apartments along Trafalgar. For students, these areas are where you can typically find rentals.

Kent Gardens

At the very south of the neighbourhood, just west of Oakville Place Mall you’ll find the pocket of Kent Gardens. As you head west towards Sixteen Mile Creek you’re going to find a mix of original 50s and 60s bungalows on huge, wide lots that are making way for large custom infills.

North of the Creek runoff, you still have most of the original homes, but every year new custom homes are popping up as well. The lot sizes on these original homes and quiet streets make for ideal landing spots for those looking to build.

Sunningdale

Sandwiched between the Glen Abbey Golf Course and Oakville Golf Club running along Sixteen Mile Creek is the pocket of Sunningdale. The area around Sunningdale Park is similar to most of College Park with original 50s and 60s built homes.

However, as you head west towards Sixteen Mile Creek, you’ll find a gorgeous and regal pocket of large, 80s-built detached homes on large lots.

For those looking for something a touch more affordable, stay closer to Sixth Line on the east end of Sunningdale to grab those 70s-built semis.

Finally, please note that “Condo” includes condo townhomes while “townhome” includes both freehold and common element fee townhomes. If you see a dash (-), then this home type has not seen a sale in at least the last 180 days.

school zone overview

The neighborhood is called College Park for a reason—it’s home to Sheridan College, one of the biggest art schools in Canada. If you’ve got college-aged kids, it’s a huge perk having a campus this close. Sheridan’s known for programs like animation and film, which draw students from all over.

For younger kids, the public and Catholic elementary schools are not typically top-ranked in Oakville, but at both high school levels they’re some of the best in the province. Oakville is one of the best cities in Ontario for public education.

Montclair PS is the public elementary school for the neighbourhood. If you’re looking for French Immersion, then Sunningdale PS is your option. This is a French-only school, so make sure to understand the difference! For high school, students would then attend White Oaks SS which is right in the heart of College Park.

On the Catholic side, elementary students would attend St. Michael before graduating and attending high school at Holy Trinity.

fun in College Park

Anything missing from our list of the best things to do in College Park? Reach out and let us know as we’re always on the lookout for new ideas!

Overall, College Park doesn’t have a ton of amenities within its borders. But, you do have the McCraney Trail that connects most of the northern half of the neighbourhood in behind Sheridan College. This connects with local parks like Oakville Park and White Oaks Secondary School.

Beyond that, most of the community will end up using the outdoor facilities of the public, Catholic and french language schools in the area.

For shopping and dining, Oakville Place mall is close by. It’s not massive, but it’s got a nice selection of stores and a food court for quick bites.

For golfers, you have Oakville Golf Club which is an executive 9-hole course. And just across Sixteen Mile Creek is the well-known and respected Glen Abbey Golf Course.

Sheridan College

The community is best known for the world-renowned Sheridan College. Established way back in 1967, the school has grown to become a leading arts and technology school in North America with a particular niche in animation. Its graduates quickly grabbed the attention of Hollywood and helped build up Canada’s moniker as Hollywood North.
