Bronte Overview

Bronte is located at the southwest border of Oakville/Burlington. It’s bordered by Lake Ontario to the south, Rebecca street to the north and Third Line to the east.

Neigbourhood names in this area are a touch confusing, but it blends in fairly seamlessly with the neighbourhoods of West Oakville to the north and Southwest Oakville to the east. You’ll just have to trust me and check out those pages to get a better idea.

Back to Bronte, it’s a quick shot north to the QEW or GO Station when you need to get into Toronto. This makes it a hotspot for professionals and their families that want the space and prime Oakville lifestyle without sacrificing their commute. On top of that? You’re right by the water, with all the perks that come with it.

As for the community itself, Bronte has a laid-back, almost vacation-like feel. It’s a mix of retirees and families who all love being near the water and enjoy the beach and great walks. While the residential areas are quiet and family-friendly, the neighbourhood is best known for the wonderful lakefront hub of Bronte Harbour and Village.

Bronte real estate

Real Estate

The homes in Bronte are a mix of old and new. You’ll find older, detached houses on large lots—perfect if you want space to spread out or a big backyard. Some of these homes have been completely renovated or rebuilt as custom homes, so you’ll see a mix of traditional charm and modern luxury.

On the newer side, there are luxury condos and townhomes popping up around Bronte Village. These are great for retirees or professionals who want a low-maintenance lifestyle with access to the great trails, shops and restaurants of the area.

Ultimately, we can break Bronte up into four main areas: 1) Bronte Village, 2) North and East of Bronte Village, 3) West of Bronte Creek and 4) West of Shell Park.

Bronte Village

If you want to live right in Bronte Village & Harbour, you have a few options. For the most part, the area is made up of older apartment buildings. However, there are also townhomes (including condo townhomes) and new condo buildings.

A bit further east along the lakeshore is a big collection of older condo townhomes as well for anyone looking to get right on the lake at a more affordable price.

North & East Bronte

Just north of Bronte Village between Bronte Rd to the West and Bronte Athletic Park to the east, you’re going to find that mix of older homes with larger lots and the custom infill that marks the real luxury in the area.

It’s pretty simple, the closer you get to Bronte Village and the Lake, the more prime the land. Much of this has made way for those customs.

However, if you’re looking for something a touch more affordable, then you have plenty of options stretching all the way to Third Line where most of the homes are older, but well-kept, charming bungalows and 2-storey homes.

West of Bronte Creek

As you go west of Bronte Village you reach and cross Bronte Creek where you find another large mix of residential homes.

You can find anything within this area that stretches all the way north to Rebecca Street. However, south of Lakeshore will be distinctively south Oakville in that you’ll find that mix of small bungalows, monster mansions, charming custom infills and those classic, 80s-style 2-storey, large 4-bedroom homes.

Head north of Lakeshore and it’s pretty similar to North and East Bronte where you’ll find more unassuming, yet charming 2-storey homes.

Shell Park

As you reach the western border of Oakville, you’ll find the homes that were built around Shell Park. This is the newest pocket of Bronte with most homes here built between the mid-80s to late 2000s.

This area is dominated by 2-storey detached homes, but there are pockets of semis and townhomes available.

For those that love the beach, South Shell Park Beach is just a short walk/bike ride in the southern half of this neighbourhood.

Bronte median home prices

affordability

Below is the median sales price per home type. The median sales price is the price where half of the listed prices are higher and the other half are lower than it. This better represents affordability than the average sales price.

While these figures are updated as much as possible, it’s best to contact us below for real-time pricing.

Finally, please note that “Condo” includes condo townhomes while “townhome” includes both freehold and common element fee townhomes. If you see a dash (-), then this home type has not seen a sale in at least the last 180 days.

For students interested in French Immersion, they would likely head to Pinegrove PS. Please note, graduates from Gladys Speers would finish up elementary school at Eastview before heading to T.A. Blakelock for high school.

On the Catholic side, the entire neighbourhood is served by St. Dominic at the elementary level. For high school, students would graduate to St. Thomas Aquinas.

Bronte Village & Harbour

Bronte is all about the waterfront and Bronte Village & Harbour is the hub for the community. With marinas, walking paths, parks and beaches, you’ve got a great spot to hang out all year round.

Established way back in 1894, Bronte Village and Harbour is actually one of Ontario’s oldest lakeside communities. It has local shops, restaurants, and cafes that give it a friendly, small-town vibe.

Locals from Bronte come here to walk with their families and their dogs and take in the scenic views.

Heritage Waterfront Park is a personal favourite. This is an access point to the Waterfront Trail system and you get amazing views of the harbour, boardwalk, pier, lighthouse, beach and bluffs.

You can check out all the area has to offer through the Bronte Village BIA.

Parks in Bronte

There are tons of parks and trails in Bronte as much of it runs along the Waterfront Trail system. You also have small parks located in the residential areas of Bronte and all within Bronte Village as mentioned above.

Outside of those, the major park within Bronte would be Shell Park which is located in the west end of Bronte.

Shell Park

This is a great spot to take the family! It has four soccer fields, a dog park, a playground and a community garden.

And just south of here is South Shell Park which has a small playground and beach. This can get pretty busy at times on the weekends, but we’ve spent early mornings here enjoying the beach and amazing views!
