Streetsville overview

Streetsville is a large neighbourhood located in north-central Mississauga that runs just west of the Credit River. Its main neighbours are Meadowvale and Central Erin Mills to the west and East Credit to the east.

Streetsville, dubbed the “Village in the City”, is one of the original villages of Mississauga. At its center is its historic village and heritage buildings and homes which are well preserved today.

Most of the homes at the center are now businesses that help line the “main strip” along Queen Street where you can find all kinds of shops, restaurants, bars and everyday services. For those that live near the center, it’s one of the few truly walkable neighbourhoods in Mississauga that rivals Port Credit and Clarkson Village.

There are some apartments, a couple of condos and a retirement home, but the majority of housing can be found in the two major sub-neighbourhoods within Streetsville outside of the historic core: Vista Heights and Riverview.

Let’s take a closer look at them below.

There are two main sub-neighbourhoods within Streetsville: Vista Heights and Riverview.

Vista Heights

Developed mainly between the 1950s to 1980s, you will find a mix of detached housing here from 2-storey to bungalows and different types of splits.

The rest of Vista Heights is a mix of some semis, condo townhomes and infill custom homes. Vista Heights is attractive to investors and those looking to build their dream home thanks to the wide lots.

Here is an example of a 1980s-built detached home in Vista Heights:

Overall, the area is affordable thanks to the many smaller and older homes. It’s still a very high demand area due to its location, good schools and being walking distance to the GO Train and main village.

Refer to the map above to see the general boundaries of Vista Heights.

Riverview

North of Britannia, following along the Credit River, all the way to almost Hwy 401 is the area known as Riverview. This is area is very similar to Vista Heights, but is slightly newer with more 2-storey home options. Lots and homes also tend to be bigger here and I find there are more unique home styles similar to that of Meadowvale.

Riverview homes are also closer to the Credit River and many back onto them. That gives homeowners easier access to larger parks like Credit Meadows Park and Riverrun Park.

This isn’t a typical Riverview home, per se, but it’s a good example of the wide lots that are available here.

For the most part, prices are fairly similar to Vista Heights despite being further from the main village and GO Train. That’s likely due to the larger homes and lots and access to Hwy 401 and a major Mississauga work centre.

Refer to the map above to see the general boundaries of Riverview.

Finally, please note that “Condo” includes condo townhomes while “townhome” includes both freehold and common element fee townhomes. If you see a dash (-), then this home type has not seen a sale in at least the last 180 days.

Explore The Historic Village of Streetsville

Streetsville, much like Port Credit, is an old village that has preserved many of its historic buildings and organically grown an urban vibe with tons of indie shops, services, restaurants and pubs to explore.

To get a better idea of the “main street” through Streetsville, start your walk here and make your way west (straight ahead) through the village core. Make sure to check out the Streetsville BIA Directory for the updated list of businesses.

Having lived in Streetsville for many years, it was super convenient to walk from my home to the shops, banks, restaurants and central square for some ice cream with the family.

There is still a real sense of community in Streetsville which is something really rare to find nowadays.

Festivals & Events in Streetsville

Streetsville, along with Port Credit and the City Centre, are the main neighbourhoods where you will find Mississauga’s biggest festivals and events.

Streetsville is best known for its annual Bread & Honey Festival and Canada Day Parade. They also have a great farmer’s market that operates every Saturday out of the central village square.

Check out the Streetsville BIA website for full details on upcoming events. They do a great job updating all of their social media too, so check them out on Facebook/Instagram as well.

Parks, Trails & Ice Skating

Streetsville Memorial Park is the largest in Streetsville and where the Bread & Honey Festival is hosted. It’s also right next to Vic Johnson Community Centre which is a community operated hockey arena that’s been serving the community since 1961.

From here you can walk part of the Culham Trail along the Credit River. These are some of the nicest views you can get in Mississauga.

credit river streetsville

Streetsville isn’t only just about the area near the historic village. Riverview is close to great parks like Credit Meadows Park which completed an expansion in 2025. This saw new trails connect the park to its northern expansion area (the former Harris Lands). This expansion provided new park space, trails and two pedestrian bridges.

Overall, Streetsville is a great place to live whether you’re single, married with a family or a senior. You may leave Streetsville to do bigger box shopping at places like the Erin Mills Town Centre or Heartland Town Centre, but otherwise most of what you need is right at your doorstep!

Ask Me About Streetsville

These are the top four things people usually ask about Streetsville!

Contact Me
  • what's it really like to live in Streetsville?

Streetsville is easily one of my favourite neighbourhoods in Mississauga. It’s a tight-knit community, with everything within walking distance. I lived here for many years and loved it! The festivals, events and clubs give you lots of things to do. The shops, restaurants, pubs and everyday services were super convenient.

  • What's the commute like from Streetsville?

There is a GO station right in the heart of Streetsville for downtown commuters. For drivers, Hwy 401 is very close by. One thing to keep in mind is train service is more infrequent on the Streetsville/Milton line than the Lakeshore line so plan accordingly.

  • Why Should I Live in Streetsville?

If you want to be in a community that puts you within walking distance to almost everything you need then Streetsville is the place for you. The homes and lots are spacious, the schools are great and you’re a part of one of the coolest villages in the city. It’s definitely one of the best places to live in Mississauga.

  • why should i not live in Streetsville?

Like most in-demand areas, the only downside would be affordability at times. If you can’t afford to be in a larger, detached 2-storey then some of the smaller and older 50s to 70s built splits and bungalows may not be as appealing. While mostly well-kept, spaces are smaller and cosmetic upgrades are often out of budget for younger buyers.
