Find out everything you need to know about Erindale below.

Erindale overview

Erindale is located in west-central Mississauga south of Hwy 403 and north of the QEW. It is west of Cooksville, southwest of Square One, east of Erin Mills and north of Lorne Park separated by the aforementioned QEW.

Erindale was originally founded as a small village. The original village and some of the historic homes still remain to this day, however it’s a very tiny pocket tucked away behind Dundas St just west of the Credit Valley Golf Club (in yellow).

What we now call Erindale is a much larger area that stretches a great distance north to south and encompasses the major sub-neighbourhooods of the Credit Woodlands (north of Dundas in blue) and Huron Park (south of Dundas between Glengarry & Mavis in black). There is also a slightly more distinct section east of Erindale Station around The Woodlands Secondary School (also in blue).

The jewel of Erindale is of course Erindale Park. While not located directly in Erindale, the University of Toronto-Mississauga campus is right next door.

Erindale schools

best schools

School information is updated yearly. Use the form below to download a copy of the latest school rankings.

school zone overview

In terms of the school zone, Erindale’s “Woodlands” performs very well, with three top-ranked public schools and a top-ranked high school. There are a couple of pockets with lower-ranking public schools, but they do filter into a top high school.

On the Catholic side, things are strangely not quite as rosy with only one top-ranked school to be found in St. Jerome in Huron Park. Curiously, that trend continues on into the high school as St. Martin has ranked in the bottom half.

However, overall the schools are very strong in Erindale, so that should help tick off one of your boxes in your home search.

Erindale Park

We, of course, have to start with the jewel of Erindale – Erindale Park.

Erindale Park is located at 1695 Dundas St W just north of Mississauga Road. This place is packed in the summer with families and large gatherings because of the huge green space and picnic areas.

It’s open from 9am-9pm and there is plenty of free parking. It’s also completely free to visit and there are plenty of bathrooms to use. If you want to get a good spot though, you’ll need to get there a bit early.

At other times of the week (or year) it’s much more peaceful and there is tons to explore including the numerous trails that connect to the rest of the city. The views from the trail are some of the most spectacular that you will find in the GTA.

Key trails include the 18km Culham Trail with scenic river views, the UTM Nature Trail through the University of Toronto Mississauga campus, and the less frequented 9km Sawmill Creek Trail.

Riverwood Conservancy

Ok, I have to admit, I lived an embarassingly long-time in Mississauga without ever visiting the Riverwood Conservancy. I’d always pass by it and say that I’d go, but I just…never did. Until one day I finally made my way there and couldn’t believe I had waited so long.

The Riverwood Conservancy is a 150-acre nature preserve with hiking trails, botanical gardens, and educational programs. The best parts are the hikes through the Yellow, Red, and Culham trails, each providing unique views of forests, marshlands, and the Credit River.

The MacEwan Terrace Garden showcases over 7000 plants and features a Sensory Path for those with vision loss. The conservancy is home to 150 species of resident and migratory birds, with bird hikes also available.

It’s open year-round and it’s a free and accessible destination for those that love nature. Make sure you don’t wait as long as I did!

Huron Park Rec Centre

Huron Park (located in southeast Erindale) is a huge indoor and outdoor community recreation centre that includes sports fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool and fitness centre.

The park also has well-maintained trails for walking and cycling, as well as picnic areas and playgrounds for family activities. It also offers various community programs and events, so make sure to check Active Mississauga for program availability.

Golf Courses

There are two main golf courses in Erindale. Now, keep in mind that both of these are private courses. However, if you’re a golf enthusiast these are two of the nicest clubs you could join in the GTA.

Credit Valley Golf and Country Club

This is a prestigious private club known for its challenging 18-hole golf course set along the scenic Credit River that offers a picturesque and serene environment. It also features dining facilities, event spaces, and various social activities for members, making it a well-rounded club for golf enthusiasts and families.

Mississauga Golf and Country Club

This is another prominent private club in Mississauga, renowned for its historic and beautifully maintained 18-hole course. Established back in 1906, it combines traditional charm with modern amenities, including dining, tennis courts, and event venues. The club is known for its strong community focus, offering a range of social events and activities for its members.

Ask Me About Erindale

These are the top four things people usually ask about Erindale!

Contact Me
  • what's it really like to live in Erindale?

Life in Erindale is quiet and tranquil with access to lots of great parks and trails for families. Many of them spend the weekends in the large, luscious space of Erindale Park. Erindale has a great mix of affordable neighbourhoods and gorgeous enclaves tucked in behind the historical Erindale Village and golf courses. My favourite area and the one to aim for would be the pocket around Huron Park. Great little community with the best access to the east and south end of the city.

  • What's the commute like from Erindale?

Commuting from the heart of Erindale gives you a few options. You can access Highway 403 and the Erindale GO Station to the north and the QEW from Erin Mills Parkway on the west end. Dundas Street can get busy at times though and there’s a lack of access to the south end of the city.

Going into Toronto, the Erindale GO Station is still your best bet, but if you live in the Huron Park area that gives you easy access to the Queensway that takes you to the QEW. It’s not the best overall commuter area, but you do have options and it’s not the busiest stretch of the city.

  • Why Should I Live in Erindale?

If you like life a bit on the quieter side but you don’t want to be far from amenities then Erindale would be a great choice. You have great schools at all levels (including the University of Toront–Mississauga campus right next door), tons of parks and trails and mature streets to explore. The area is equally affordable as other areas but with more natural beauty at your doorstep.

  • why should i not live in Erindale?

If you want a lot of retail right at your doorstep then Erindale wouldn’t be your first choice. It can also be a bit tougher to commute from certain of Erindale if you’re relying on getting to the QEW. Also, if you prefer more neighbours and a bit more of a cookie-cutter neighbourhood experience then Erindale probably isn’t the best fit for you.
